Rampersand VC is an Australian early stage venture capital fund based in Melbourne. We invest in and support visionary Australian and New Zealand technology founders as they build world-changing business. Since 2013 Rampersand has invested in more than 20 companies including Expert360, Sendle, Assembly Payments, PredictHQ, Skedulo and are always looking for more.
We back founders who are creating technology-based companies that improve everything from how students share and learn, how organic waste is recycled into animal feed, the way goods and services are paid for, post delivered, companies find and engage teams and a range of new and emerging problems for companies, individuals and societies.
Normally we are the first investor into a company, starting at Seed or Series A, so we are highly motivated to find brilliant founders, wherever they are, before they are well known.
A bit about THE ROLE…
We are looking for someone to join our small team who shares our passion for finding exceptional founders and helping them as they build their business. The role requires someone analytical and imaginative, commercially minded and people-centric and understands and loves the startup journey.
As a member of our team you will gain broad exposure to all aspects of venture capital including investment strategies, due diligence, investor relations, startup management, capital raising, M&A and portfolio support. You will work with the team across the key priority areas of the fund:
Finding and proposing new investment targets and screening investment opportunities
Performing industry landscape evaluations, market sizing and competitor research
Advocating and challenging investment opportunities in an articulate, intelligent and respectful manner in team meetings and at investment committee
Building community presence and outreach
Supporting the portfolio companies
A bit about YOU...
5+ years’ experience working in strategy, product management or investment roles
Ideally have worked for a startup or a technology company
Have an entrepreneurial mind-set with a keen interest in start-ups and technology
Have a high degree of comfort with analytics, numbers and the capability to draw decisions based on both intuition and data
Proven track record of personal, academic and professional achievements
Able to manage competing priorities, work in an unstructured environment and are comfortable with continual context switches
Motivated to work as a team member and contribute to evolving the firm’s culture
Genuinely care about the growth and success of the Australian innovation sector, our portfolio founders, and the outcomes for our investors
