We are a small team based in Melbourne, having worked all around the world, and we meet hundreds of founders from across the country. We manage $50M of funds which we are actively investing in the Australian technology ecosystem. Our remit is broad and we have already invested in a wide range of companies, like Assembly which is revolutionizing the financial systems, Expert360 which is changing the way people work, and TigerPistol, the world's only automated Facebook advertising engine. We have also invested in artificial intelligence, cyber security, data analytics, mentoring and a range of other emerging frontiers.
We are on the lookout for a motivated and tech-savvy university student to join our team as an intern for 1-2 days a week for 3 months (March - June).
We know what we do isn’t the “typical” career path for a uni student to follow in Australia but we want to change that, and open up the world of technology startups and innovation to you!
what does it involve?
This is not going to be the type of internship where we have you fetching coffee and filing documents, instead you will be very much a part of our team. Your day-to-day tasks will be varied and span all parts of the fund: helping us find interesting companies through online resources or IRL at events, researching sectors we (and you) find interesting, meeting founders, organising events, helping us look at and assess companies we are interested in, and helping us report to our investors (yep – we have investors too).
Yes, this is paid! And yes, we are flexible and will look to organise your internship days around your uni work. No, you don’t need to be in a business degree to apply, nor do you need to know how to code. We are looking preferably for penultimate year students and an interest in tech is a must (either through your obvious passion for the space or demonstrated start-up experience). Ultimately, we want someone who is willing to jump head first into our world and help out with everything, so no matter what your background is, no matter what degree you are studying for, if you are passionate and eager, this opportunity could be for you.
