Andrew Poesaste

Basketballer (with a great jump shot), rugby player, foodie, tech nerd, traveller, father and husband, Andrew’s journey is from builder of technology to investor in it, with a few failed startups along the way.

He spent the last half-decade at Angular Ventures, investing in day-zero to seed-stage companies across Europe and Israel. He has been part of the initial investments in three unicorns (and counting): Firebolt, Aquant, and Forter, with some of the best co-investors on the planet: Bessemer, Kleiner Perkins, Insight, CRV, Lightspeed, and Boldstart.

Andrew has advised and worked on more than thirty 0-1 companies in the most mature to immature ecosystems and has learned many lessons along the way. His mission is to help Australian and NZ teams become global leaders in their category.

Andrew has a deep love for open-source software and the Python programming language. His bridge to venture was leading an algorithmic trading team working on hardware, software, math and data to scale intelligence in nanosecond timeframes. He was perfectly positioned to recognise that as new companies were being built, the software development bar was lowering, which ushered in a new wave of software development opportunities within different industries.
